Hurricane Teddy to Brush Bermuda

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Bermuda as the island will experience the impact of a tropical cyclone exactly one week after Hurricane Paulette scored a direct hit on the beautiful island nation early Monday.

The hurricane is spreading large swells across much of the western Atlantic. High surf advisories are in effect all along the East Coast from eastern Florida to Long Island and Connecticut, along with coastal flood advisories and warnings of high rip current dangers. Surf will be running 7-11 feet high along Atlantic beaches.

Northeasterly tropical force winds should start affecting the area late Sunday afternoon. The highest wind speeds from Hurricane Teddy should occur near late Sunday night when top sustained winds, from the North, could reach 45-55 MPH with gusts near 60 MPH. Winds should decrease below tropical storm force around noon Monday with gusts continuing through the afternoon. There could be some minor wind damage on Bermuda.
